Awards

The ISCM Steering Committee has decided to create two awards, in order to recognise, encourage and stimulate outstanding research contributions to the field of bioceramics:

Racquel LeGeros Award,
created in honor of Racquel LeGeros.

This award will be attributed to one senior scientist having a large and recognized contribution to the field of bioceramics. It will be presented annually during the BIOCERAMICS conference of the ISCM, and consists of a certificate, a plaque and a cash prize given by the ISCM with the help of some sponsors who will be nominated separately for each BIOCERAMICS edition.

  • The nominee must have contributed significantly to the knowledge in the field of bioceramics through basic, experimental and/or clinical research.
  • The work concerned and the results must have been published.
  • The nominee must be a member of the ISCM in good standing.

BIOCERAMICS Award


This award is established to encourage and stimulate the research contributions to the knowledge in the field of bioceramics through basic, experimental and/or clinical research by young scientists. It will be presented annually during the BIOCERAMICS meeting, and consists of a certificate, a plaque, a refund of the registration fee and travelling expenses to the conference by the Organizing Committee of the meeting.

  • The nominee must be a student, PhD or postdoc (letter from supervisor is required) from academic or research centres, not be older than 35 years, and have an accepted abstract at the BIOCERAMICS meeting as presenting author.
  • The nominee must be a member of the ISCM in good standing.

The Racquel LeGeros Award is sponsored by:

Nomination Procedure for Awards

Any member of the ISCM in good standing may nominate candidates for the Racquel LeGeros Award and the BIOCERAMICS Award. The deadline for the nominations for Racquel LeGeros Award is August 1st each year. The following information must accompany each nomination:

  1. Name and address of the nominating member.
  2. Personal data and Affiliation of the nominee.
  3. A Curriculum Vitae of the nominee, as far as is known, including education, membership of professional organizations, honours already received, main field of professional activity and a list of publications.
  4. A statement describing the reasons for nomination.
  5. Dates about the paper that will be presented at BIOCERAMICS meeting (reference number; title & authors).

The nominations and supporting data for BIOCERAMICS 25 Award should be sent to the BIOCERAMICS 25 Secretariat: bioceramics25@gmail.com. Also, the candidates for BIOCERAMICS 25 Award must provide to the BIOCERAMICS 25 Secretariat all details related to the travel expenses before November 1st.
